HSG Hysterosalpingogram

HSG is an X-ray test used to examine the shape and structure of the uterus and to check whether the fallopian tubes are open or blocked. During the procedure, a contrast dye is gently introduced into the uterus through the cervix, and a series of X-ray images are taken to observe the flow of the dye through the uterine cavity and fallopian tubes. If the tubes are open, the dye will flow freely into the abdominal cavity; if blocked, the flow will be restricted or absent. The entire procedure is relatively quick, generally completed within 20–30 minutes, and is done on an outpatient basis.
