IVP Intravenous Pyelogram

At Deepam Diagnostic & Orthopaedic Clinic, we offer Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP), a specialized imaging procedure used to evaluate the structure and function of the urinary tract, including the kidneys, ureters, and bladder. IVP is particularly useful in detecting conditions such as kidney stones, tumors, enlarged prostate, urinary tract obstructions, congenital abnormalities, and recurrent urinary infections. It provides a clear, detailed view of the entire urinary system, helping physicians make accurate diagnoses and plan appropriate treatments.

The procedure involves injecting a contrast dye into a vein, usually in the arm. This dye travels through the bloodstream and is filtered by the kidneys, eventually flowing into the urinary tract. As the dye outlines the organs, a series of X-ray images are taken at specific time intervals to track its movement. These images reveal the size, shape, and functioning of the kidneys, as well as any blockages or structural issues in the ureters or bladder.

At Deepam, patient comfort and safety are our top priorities. Our trained radiology team ensures the procedure is explained thoroughly, performed gently, and monitored closely for any allergic reactions or side effects. IVP typically takes about 30–60 minutes and is performed on an outpatient basis. With high-quality imaging equipment and expert interpretation, we deliver accurate, timely reports to support effective clinical decisions. Deepam Diagnostic & Orthopaedic Clinic is committed to providing precise and compassionate diagnostic care to help patients maintain optimal kidney and urinary tract health.
