CTEV

CTEV (Congenital Talipes Equinovarus), commonly known as clubfoot, is a congenital deformity where a newborn's foot is twisted out of its normal position. At Deepam Diagnostic & Orthopaedic Clinic, we specialize in the early diagnosis and effective treatment of this condition to ensure proper foot alignment, function, and mobility as the child grows. CTEV may affect one or both feet and is characterized by the foot pointing downward and inward, often making walking difficult if left untreated.

Our treatment approach primarily involves the Ponseti method, which is globally recognised as the gold standard for managing clubfoot in infants. This method includes a series of gentle manipulations and plaster casting over several weeks to gradually correct the foot position. Once the desired alignment is achieved, a minor procedure called a tenotomy (to release the tight Achilles tendon) may be required. After correction, children are fitted with special braces to maintain the correction and prevent recurrence.

For older children or in more severe cases, surgical intervention may be considered to correct the deformity and improve function. Our paediatric orthopaedic specialists at Deepam ensure that each child receives compassionate, individualised care throughout the treatment journey, with continuous monitoring of growth and development.

Early intervention in CTEV leads to excellent outcomes, allowing most children to walk, run, and lead a normal life. At Deepam Diagnostic & Orthopaedic Clinic, we are committed to giving children the best possible start with expert care and long-term support for their musculoskeletal health.
